TITLE: Student Transportation: Full-Time Utility Bus Driver - 26-27
POSITION SUMMARY:
Camdenton R-III Schools Utility Drivers play an integral role in the well-being and safety of our students having important "touch points" throughout the day. Primary responsibilities are to shuttle students to and from classes on campus or to a school related job or business in a safe and legal manner. Drivers interact with students in a courteous, respectful manner while maintaining high expectations for safety. Drivers model respect for the law and authority, safety in driving habits, and efficiency in time and effort.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Valid Class A or B CDL with S (School Bus) and P (Passenger) endorsements.
- Safe driving record.
- Successful completion of district training program.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Safety and Vehicle Maintenance
- Observe all safety rules and traffic laws by exercising safety first in all operations.
- Perform daily pre and post trip safety inspections using the "Driver's Daily Report."
- Initiate follow-up action to ensure prompt correction of equipment deficiencies recorded on reports.
- Perform district procedures as outlined in the Handbook to ensure no students are left unattended on the bus.
- Maintain cleanliness of the assigned bus, including frequent sweeping, dusting, and other cleaning as required.
Student Transportation and Scheduling
- Transport assigned students over designated morning and evening bus routes in accordance with schedules and rules.
- Transport students over designated shuttles in accordance with operating schedules.
- Conduct emergency school bus drills and safety demonstrations when directed by Administration.
Student Management and Communication
- Establish a positive relationship with assigned students and parents to promote safety and good conduct.
- Instruct students regarding established rules, good conduct, and safety on the bus.
- Communicate with parents to address minor discipline issues before involving building administrators. (Note: Serious offenses may bypass parent communication depending on severity).
- Perform "head counts" of students and provide other written reports as directed.
Compliance and Professionalism
- Conduct oneself in accordance with all driver rules and regulations established by the State, local Board of Education, and Superintendent.
- Attend all "non-student days" designated for professional development.
- Undergo a medical examination by the District's physician at least 90 days prior to the school year.
- Maintain good personal hygiene and a personal appearance appropriate for a representative of Camdenton R-3 Schools.
- Perform other duties as assigned or determined necessary by leadership.
EVALUATION - Key Performance Indicators
- Zero preventable accidents and 100% completion of pre-trip inspections.
- On-time arrival/departure rate for all routes.
- 100% "No Student Left Behind" check completion and up-to-date medical certifications.
- Reduction in referred discipline incidents through proactive parent communication.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT.
- Scheduled Work Days: 179 days; 8.0 hrs / day. Does not include a 30 minute lunch.
- Pay Range: Starting at $15.05 and commensurate with experience
- Perform other duties as assigned or deemed appropriate by the Board of Education.
