Client Overview:
Our client is a confidential healthcare organization operating laboratory facilities in Florham Park, NJ. The organization supports clinical and diagnostic services and is committed to quality, accuracy, and patient care. They are currently looking to add a Specimen Handler/Transporter to their team.
Salary/Hourly Rate:
$18/hr - $20/hr DOE
Position Overview:
The Specimen Handler/Transporter will be responsible for safely and accurately transporting laboratory specimens between two adjacent laboratory facilities. This temporary role is ideal for someone interested in gaining entry-level experience in a healthcare or laboratory environment. No prior experience is required, as training will be provided. The schedule is from Monday to Friday: 4:00 PM - 8:00 PM, and Saturday & Sunday: 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM. The ideal candidate will work approximately 37 hours per week.
Responsibilities of the Specimen Handler/Transporter:
- Transport specimens between two neighboring lab locations (by foot; no vehicle required).
- Ensure proper handling, labeling, and integrity of specimens.
- Follow standard operating procedures and safety guidelines.
- Maintain confidentiality and compliance with healthcare regulations.
- Communicate effectively with laboratory staff.
- Support general lab operations as needed.
Required Experience/Skills for the Specimen Handler/Transporter:
- No prior experience is required.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Reliability and punctuality.
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
- Comfortable walking between buildings throughout the shift.
Preferred Experience/Skills for the Specimen Handler/Transporter:
- Interest in healthcare, laboratory science, or clinical environments.
- Previous exposure to lab or medical settings (not required).
- Familiarity with PPE is a plus, but not required.
Education Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent is preferred.
