BUS DRIVER (25-passenger commercial bus)

Maine Coast Waldorf School is now hiring a part time bus driver for our daily morning and afternoon Freeport-Cape Elizabeth route! This position has a predictable schedule of 20 hours of driving per week (6:00 AM 8:00 AM and 3:00 PM 5:00 PM, Monday-Friday). For the right candidate, additional hours are available midday for field trips and odd job projects, bringing the position to full-time status and unlocking additional benefits. Our vehicle is a 25-passenger commercial bus, which requires a valid Maine Class B CDL with Passenger (P) Endorsement.

AVERAGE SCHEDULE

School Year: September through June

School Week: Monday through Friday

Shifts: 6:00 AM 8:00 AM and 3:00 PM 5:00 PM

NOTE: Additional daytime hours during the school year and off-job hours during school breaks are available for the right candidate.

PAY RATE & BENEFITS

• $26.00/hour
• 50-80% tuition remission is available for employee dependents enrolled at the school.
• Additional benefits are available, depending on candidates preferred work schedule.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Conduct pre- and post-trip vehicle inspections to ensure safe operations.
• Oversee loading/unloading of passengers from the bus.
• Provide safe, reliable, efficient transportation to/from our Freeport campus.
• Obey all traffic laws and observe all mandatory safety regulations for school buses.
• Actively participate in schoolwide employee and student safety training.
• Maintain passenger discipline by following school policies and procedures.
• Notify the appropriate authorities in cases of mechanical failures, delays or accidents.
• Clean & sanitize vehicles to school standards.
• Other duties as assigned.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Class B Commercial Drivers License (CDL), with Passenger (P) Endorsement.
• Demonstrated proficiency in the operation of the assigned vehicle.
• 3 years of professional passenger driving experience and a clean driving record.
• Ability to pass a Department of Transportation physical, pre-employment drug test, driving history, and non-teaching criminal background check (CHRC).
• Excellent judgment regarding road and student safety.
• Ability to meet students with kindness and clarity regarding behavioral expectations.
• Authorized to work in the U.S.
