Robert B. Our Company invites applications for an experienced Tractor Trailer Driver to join our growing team. Reporting to the Fleet Manager, the Driver is responsible for the safe & efficient transport of products to & from designated sites.
Drive tractor trailer or 3-axle truck to & from designated sites ensuring safe transport.
Confirm accuracy of load-related documentation & complete inventory inspection.
Complete pre-trip inspections (check mechanical, safety & emergency equipment) & complete inspection reports as needed noting defects, traffic violations, & damage. Clean vehicles, replenish fuel, & perform basic maintenance under the supervision of the mechanic. Install or remove special equipment, such as tire chains, grader blades, plow blades, or sanders.
Inspect loads to ensure that cargo is secure & within legal weight limits. Secure cargo for transport. Follow appropriate safety procedures for transporting dangerous goods.
Verify delivery instructions & routes; plan/adjust routes based on changing conditions. May use computer equipment, GPS, or other navigation devices.
Maneuver trucks into loading or unloading positions, following signals from loading crew & checking that vehicle & loading equipment are properly positioned. Couple or uncouple trailers by changing trailer jack positions, connecting or disconnecting air or electrical lines, or manipulating fifth-wheel locks.
Check conditions of trailers after contents have been unloaded to ensure that there has been no damage. Remove debris from loaded trailers. Obtain delivery receipt.
Maintain vehicle logs/records.
Adhere to company safety policies & applicable federal & state regulations.
The work schedule is Monday through Friday, 6:00 am to 4:30 pm, but hours may be adjusted to meet delivery/business needs. The position is full-time, benefits-eligible.
General Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent.
Valid Class A MA driver?s license & ability to meet Company driving standards.
One year of experience operating 3-axle vehicles (with air brakes), preferably in the construction industry; demonstrated experience safely navigating construction sites.
Demonstrated experience properly securing cargo using tie-downs & tarps to prevent shifting during transport.
Familiarity with DOT regulations & logbook procedures.
Forklift certification required.
OSHA 10 certification
Requires the ability to lift/carry up to 50 lbs.
Strong communication skills
Knowledge of workplace safety practices & construction site safety protocols.
The position requires the successful completion/passing of a DOT physical, background check & drug test in accordance with Federal, State &/or Company standards.
The expected hourly salary range for this position is $30.00 - $35.00. Actual salaries will depend on factors such as experience, skills, qualifications, education & other qualifications. Robert B. Our Company, Inc offers a comprehensive benefits package to eligible employees.
