Sterile Processing Transporter

Summary:

Responsible for maintaining and transporting case carts between SPD and the OR.

Responsibilities:

1. Transports clean completed case carts from SPD to surgical areas.

2. Transports dirty case carts from the soiled case cart staging area to the SPD decontamination area.

3. Conduct soiled pick up rounds for patient care equipment and reusable instrument trays on a routine and as needed basis.

4. Assist with supply restocking.

5. Assists with case cart picking. Picks reusable drape packs, supplies and instrumentation required for scheduled Operating Room cases.

6. Assists with the OR presoak instrument decontamination/ and cleaning process as assigned.

7. Report instrument malfunction and place in the appropriate location to be sent for repair.

8. Cognizant of infection control norms in their workspace including PPE, appropriate paths of travel, sanitary handling and cross-contamination and acts according to up to date departmental policies.

Enrollment in a Sterile Processing/Surgical Technologist program preferred.
